Donate to the Archives

The Pointe-Claire Heritage Preservation Society is dedicated to building a comprehensive archive of our community’s history. Our collection is built upon the generous contributions of residents who entrust us with their historical materials.

Do you have photographs, documents, or other materials related to the history of Pointe-Claire? Your donation can help us preserve and share these vital stories with future generations of researchers and residents.

Our Collection Mandate

The PCHPS archive is focused on acquiring materials that directly document the history, residents, events, and built environment of Pointe-Claire and its historical territory. We are particularly interested in acquiring the following types of materials:

  • Photographs: Original photographs, negatives, or high-quality digital scans of Pointe-Claire people, streets, buildings, and events.
  • Documents: Letters, diaries, family papers, and business records related to life in Pointe-Claire.
  • Maps & Plans: Historical maps, architectural drawings, and land surveys.
  • Publications: Rare books, community newsletters, or pamphlets related to Pointe-Claire.
  • Oral Histories: Audio or video recordings of long-time residents sharing their memories.

Your donation can help us preserve and share these vital stories with future generations of researchers and residents.

How to Donate Materials

The donation process begins with a conversation. Please do not bring items to our office or mail them without contacting us first.

  1. Initial Contact: The first step is to contact us with a brief description of the materials you wish to donate. Please provide as much detail as possible, including the type of material, its approximate date, and its connection to Pointe-Claire.
  2. Assessment: Our archival committee will review your submission to determine if the materials fit within our collection mandate and if we have the appropriate resources to care for them.
  3. Donation Agreement: If the donation is accepted, we will work with you to complete a formal donation agreement, which legally transfers ownership of the materials to the Society.
