The mission of the Pointe-Claire Heritage Preservation Society is to champion and preserve the historical and architectural heritage of Pointe-Claire, ensuring our community’s unique story is celebrated and passed down to future generations.

The Pointe-Claire Heritage Preservation Society (PCHPS) was founded in 2000 by a group of passionate citizens dedicated to protecting a heritage that is both deeply local and nationally significant. Landmarks like the Pointe-Claire Windmill are not just symbols of our city; they are rare, surviving artifacts of the New France era—an irreplaceable part of the Canadian story. As a registered Canadian charity and a 100% volunteer-run organization, our work is powered by the belief that by preserving these tangible links to our collective past, we help secure a richer future.
What We Do
Our mission is grounded in three core pillars of action:
- Preservation & Advocacy: We are the leading voice for the protection of Pointe-Claire’s built heritage. We conduct rigorous research, advocate for the classification of historic sites, and lead ambitious restoration projects to ensure our most important landmarks endure.
- Education & Engagement: We believe that heritage is a story that must be actively shared. Through guided tours, public conferences, historical publications, and our digital archives, we work to bring the rich history of Pointe-Claire to life for residents, students, and visitors.
- Community Stewardship: As a volunteer-driven organization, we are built by and for the community. We provide a platform for residents to get involved in protecting their own history, fostering a powerful sense of shared ownership and civic pride.
